Reason #4541 Why We Love eduFire: Snow!

Posted on 15. Dec, 2008 by Koichi in Using Technology, Work From Home

The other morning I woke up to several inches of beautiful snow. Snow on it’s own isn’t too bad, but then it warmed up slightly and melted a bit, then dropped to a frigid 25 degrees Fahrenheit (that’s about -4 Celsius). Everything turned to ice, and I was trapped! I live on a pretty big hill, so I wasn’t going anywhere.

That made me realize, though, that it didn’t matter! When you’re teaching or learning online, all you need is a computer, some equipment, and an internet connection. I was able to open my window and enjoy the snow, while everyone else was skidding around trying to go to work.

How many of you get to enjoy/not enjoy the snow where you are?

  • Oh how sweet! I remember when snow was fun and beautiful! But those days are long gone...as I reply to this post, it's sub-zero with the wind chill, and everything is covered in snow. UGH!
  • I think I'm just reaching that age, where snow isn't as fun anymore :( I've actually been stuck in someone else's home now for the last few days. A really nice home and family, here, but I wouldn't mind getting back home. Still, I can work from here anyways. It's great!
  • Nice! I've got snow envy.

But it must be a bit slushy in the pool. Total slurpeetainment.
  • Oof, that would be scary. That pool froze over a couple days later, probably thick enough to walk on, even, though I wouldn't want to try it :)
  • Welcome to my world! Yesterday it was -6 F degrees with the windchill in Chicago! There was no way I was leaving my house. But, that was ok. I had my computer, internet, handy dandy headset, and EduFire! So the weather outside didn't phase me!
  • Yay!

Wow, that's cold though. I'm glad it doesn't get that way here. Coldest we saw was probably around 10 F degrees, which is plenty enough for me!

Well, I'm looking at 3 ft. and still coming down asa MAJOR snow storm has me house bound in Western New York State on the shores of Lake Erie 72 miles south of Buffalo. And this is no longer funny! I am literally snow bound. So, I made brownies and am listening to Christmas music.
  • Ouch, I hear it's really bad out that way. How's the weather treating you now, 3 days after you posted your comment?
  • We've never had snow like we did this past December. It was awful and beautiful at the same time. Glad you enjoyed it!
